District Administrators, Union Leaders Launch Listening Tour to Support Staff and Strengthen Collaboration

Lynwood Unified administrators and union leaders have joined forces to launch a pilot Listening Tour across District schools, providing staff members with a platform to share their experiences, concerns and ideas. Running throughout March and April, the tour is a key step in the District’s commitment to building a more positive and collaborative work environment.

The Listening Tour is an initiative of the Labor Alliance Management Partnership (L.A.M.P.), which brings together representatives from the California School Employees Association (CSEA), Lynwood Teachers Association (LTA), Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and District management.

Developed in summer 2024, the partnership focuses on strengthening labor-management relationships, improving communication and addressing key workplace challenges.

This Listening Tour will help identify issues that impact student success, such as low staff morale and limited opportunities for staff input. By connecting directly with educators and support staff, District and union leadership can better understand their concerns and work together to foster a more positive and supportive work environment.

Once the tour concludes, the L.A.M.P. team will analyze the feedback and develop action steps to strengthen workplace culture and improve collaboration across the district.

The L.A.M.P. initiative reflects the District’s commitment to open communication, respect and unity, ensuring that all staff members feel valued and empowered in their roles. The L.A.M.P. team includes:

  • SEIU: Sam Conner, Cynthia Williams and Anthony Jackson
  • CSEA: Diana Hawkins, Deserie Munoz and Tanya Smith
  • LTA: Stephanie Aguon, Glenda Arellano and Myrna Vergara
  • District Management: Gretchen Janson, Geraldine Rescinito and Carlos Zaragoza
