SEL & PBIS at Will Rogers
Empowering Students to Thrive—Socially, Emotionally, and Academically

We know that students do their best when they feel safe, supported, and confident in who they are. Through our award-winning Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program and a strong foundation in Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), we ensure that every child feels welcome, valued, and empowered to succeed.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
Will Rogers is proud to be a two-time PBIS Platinum Award recipient, recognized for our school-wide commitment to building a respectful and inclusive learning environment.
PBIS is a proactive, research-based approach that helps create a positive school culture by:
-
Teaching clear behavior expectations
-
Recognizing and rewarding positive behavior
-
Providing consistent support and interventions when needed
Through PBIS, students learn what it means to be responsible, respectful, and kind. These lessons are reinforced daily through teacher modeling, school-wide assemblies, and classroom activities. Every staff member plays a role in helping students build strong character and make positive choices, so that everyone at Will Rogers feels welcome and supported.
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
We believe that developing strong social-emotional skills is essential to preparing students for lifelong success. Our SEL program helps students build the confidence and compassion they need to navigate school and life with resilience and empathy.
SEL at Will Rogers teaches students how to:
-
Recognize and manage their emotions
-
Communicate effectively and build healthy relationships
-
Show empathy and respect for others
-
Make responsible decisions
-
Cope with challenges and bounce back from setbacks
Comprehensive Student Support
Our SEL efforts are supported by a dedicated team that includes a Social-Emotional Learning Specialist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and Community School Case Manager. This team provides one-on-one and small group support to help students work through challenges, build emotional regulation skills, and feel connected to their school community.
At Will Rogers Elementary, PBIS and SEL work hand-in-hand to support the whole child. By helping students grow not just as learners, but as people, we are building a stronger, more compassionate school community—one where every student has the tools to soar.
